Join Julie and Mike on their inspiring journey back to cycling as they prepare for a return to Mallorca and the stunning Serra de Tramuntana.

In this uplifting video, we take a scenic road ride through the usually picturesque but on this occasion misty, Isle of Purbeck, with a well-earned stop for lunch in the charming village of Corfe, home to the historic Corfe Castle, built shortly after the 1066 Norman conquest.

Whether you’re a passionate cyclist or simply love exploring the outdoors on two wheels, this ride has it all; a ferry crossing from Sandbanks, challenging double-digit climbs, exhilarating descents, and sweeping fast corners.

As Julie returns to cycling after undergoing chemotherapy in 2024, let her courage and determination inspire you to overcome life’s obstacles and rediscover your own strength.

  1. Thank you for another great ride . Loved the refuel. Giant crack looking forward to hearing the outcome. Love seeing you two back on the road together . Yeehaw added. Tough rides are getting you ready for Mallorca. Bunkie

  2. Just under 40 miles is a good ride for getting fitnesses back – you'll both be knocking out century rides again in no time!

Ouch – not good news about the Giant there Mike, hope an acceptable solution is forthcoming!

    Good ride!

  3. Gears connecting with cycling computers 🤷🏻‍♂️ were did it all go wrong 🤔 …..remember when we just jumped on our mechanical bikes and just have fun 🤷🏻‍♂️

  4. Apologies for being awol for a while. Managed to slip down the stairs on Friday 13th December and break my ankle in 3 places and had plates and screws put in my foot. Had to stay in hospital until Xmas Eve. Then got an infection and had to have them removed last week! So, no cycling or swimming atm! Glad to see you challenging yourselves with hill riding! Never my favourite. May you both continue to increase your fitness. You can always climb an extra hill on my behalf!😅🚵‍♀️

  5. Impressive winter ride with those rolling hills 🎉. You are getting fitter, riding up hills with extra weight is like pedalling through treacle. Majorca is about 20C at present according to a friend over there ! That crack in your frame Mike, looks serious – so much power through your BB.

  6. Un bonjour de France , vos machines sont vraiment très belles , beau matériel et bonnes vidéos grosses bises à vous et bravo Julie un bel exemple 😃😉

  7. From Corfe we sometimes go up sandy hill lane back towards top end of Swanage. Great ride past all the farms and campsite. From Winton we’re talking about 3500 feet for 35 miles, sometimes dropping into Swanage for this fish and chips earlier declined. I’m always on a single speed or fixed gear, spin to win ! John library road.

  8. I enjoyed the tour of Purbeck, and it took me back many years. Where I live now, the temperature this afternoon is -15C, and we had 40 cm followed a couple of days later by another 30 cm of snow. It looks like it'll be a while before I will be out on the bike again. Anyway, it's good to see Julie getting in a good ride and re-building her fitness.

  9. Mike, that bacon and egg sandwich, with HP sauce, looked great! Can't get that kind of quality food over here. Bacon, bacon, where is the bacon…?
I like that little ferry ride as part of the bike ride. I checked on Google maps and found that it is quite a short distance over to the Isle of Purbeck, which, errr, isn't an island.

  10. well done! I am trying to get back to some semblance of fitness after a horrible virus that has left me as weak as a kitten! Looking to go to Majorca as well. Looking to go with Love Velo but we'll see what quote they come up with!
