Read about the interest in Belgium see VRT article of February 20, 2025 . https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2025/02/19/deelmobiliteit-deelauto-s-deelfietsen-deelsteps-way-to-go/ Cycling culture, shared bikes, and using steps in combination with buses or trains are excellent for the environment and also highly motivating. In the video, I showcase an example at the border with the Netherlands. De Klinge East Flanders Belgium.

I have long advocated for shared bikes and steps in the province of Zeeland Netherlands ( Zeeuws Vlaanderen ), but it seems there’s a different mentality here. Despite Donkey Republic’s request in 2023, there are no drop zones. Of course, we have other options like folding bikes or regular bikes. However, it is clear that certain groups of people here in Zeeland are not inclined to use bikes occasionally. When people cross the border, they can rent a bike right away and cycle to Antwerp on their own.

This is no reason not to provide the target group that does want to use bikes with an offer. In the video, you can see a bike ride with a non-electric shared bike to Decathlon Antwerp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrFQDGP3KbY The transport plan of the province of Zeeland, which has been postponed from 2025 to 2026, currently contains no digital drop zones at border points. These points are crucial for mobility between the Netherlands and Belgium. Furthermore, the plan includes rates that are three times higher than those for Belgian shared bicycles. If these measures are implemented, they will not be effective.
