Weather was good, cold and dry. Last minute then, booked the ferry from Jersey to St.Malo(France). Got the R1250GS & R1300GS’s away for 5 hours, for a bit of lunch and a leg stretch.
Also a quick chat about what’s coming up on the channel, namely, how to clean your motorcycle boots and textile clothing. I discuss the BMW rear lights! I’ll be trying the Asmax F1 out also in the coming weeks. Oh and then there’s the Rukka Voyage R jacket that I have just purchased to review too.

It was more than likely my last trip on the Condor Ferry as a new operator,DFDS will be taking over soon.

  1. Enjoyed the vlog, any longer trip coming? The rear lights are good enough. They are bright even in the sun. Had it on de s1000rr from 19z. Its also approved by the European Traffic Commission.
An idea for a video is how about the editing you do… would love to like that!!

  2. Just watched video totally agree those rear lights are so bad do they actually flicker like in video or are they just on ? . Also you said you were using a chigee which model and would you recommend above the carpuride W502 ? . Loved the video 👍

  3. It’s great that you can get a day trip, but will that be the case when the new operator kicks in, I see your crossing time increases, what a cock up the States of both islands have done, only time will tell who got the best deal.
We were planning on coming over to the “other island” for a weekend on our classic bikes, but that is not possible now

  4. Last year we took a tour with IMTBike to Morocco. DFDS ferry from Gibraltar to Morocco. Our rental bike was a 2024 GS 1300, I prefer my 2022 R1250GS over the newer bike. Maybe it will get better….

  5. Nice ride. 25C to 32C in my country so its a ventilation challenge here, if only the GS had a/c and refrigerated grips and seats! Running the Denali D30s as fog lights and the D7Pros as driving lights as dusk and dawn riding can be a kangaroo and wombat challenge.

  6. Great video although the view from your restaurant couldn’t look more like st Helier marina if you tried 🤣. Look forward to finding out how to clean my textiles!! Must catch up for that coffee some time. Cheers

  7. Hi Paul , great vid as always I like those short trips over to France 1-2 days then a summer trip 2-3 weeks . I agree about the 1250 I have the exactly the same bike as yours and I certainly want be changing up to the 1300 anytime soon keep the vids coming all the best 👍👊

  8. Yes, the tail lights on my GS were dangerously horrible. 2023 R 1250 GS (North America version) I had Wiser lights installed, front and rear. Best modification EVER!!! Honestly it seems as though BMW is purposely doing this, I have no idea why. Cheers from 🇺🇸

  9. Enjoyed that film, great to get out and explore. I've got an old Rukka Argonaut jacket, one of their first GoreTex Pro Shell that I bought in 2010. It still works perfectly 15 yrs later. It was always very stiff and I feel its got worse over time, but it still shakes the rain off. I'd like the new Nivala 2 but can't quite get over the price. They are worth the money when you account for the longevity

  10. The XRs have had similar rear lights for a while and they are absolute 💩 IMO. I was shocked when BMW put them on the new 1300. 👎

On the topic of Rukka, I had a goretex jacket that lost an arm snap when it was 4.5 years old. In the US, the warranty is 5 years. They replaced the whole jacket for free even though the closest replacement was about $400 more than what I paid for the original jacket. No complaints from me on Rukka.

  11. I’ve replaced my 2024 GSA rear lights / front indicators with Weiser lights. I shouldn’t have had to, and as much as I like BMW, they really need to sort this design feature/function out, going forwards. The Weisers are excellent – lots of videos on YouTube about them.
