We spoke to Tomomi Kimura, a Bachelor student from the University of Tokyo, as she completed a research internship at the Irradiated Solids Laboratory (LSI) with École Polytechnique’s Research Program for International Talents.
While studying mathematics at the University of Tokyo, Tomomi Kimura applied for a scientific internship in physics, under the guidance of her supervisor Nathalie Vast, a theoretical physicist and researcher at École polytechnique. Uncertain whether to further specialize in mathematics or in physics, she wanted to seize the opportunity of doing applied mathematics in physics at École Polytechnique.
As Tomomi talks about her research internship at l’X she also recalls her previous experience as an exchange student in the cycle Ingénieur Polytechnique program two years ago, which remains very dear to her.
