The sixth and final part of our walk following the route of the South Yorkshire Railway’s Blackburn Valley Line from Aldham Junction near Barnsley to Meadowhall just outside Sheffield.
In this section we go from Ecclesfield to Blackburn Junction, the site of which is now Meadowhall Interchange.
Part of the Trans Pennine Trail, the route can be seen when travelling by train between Sheffield and Barnsley, on the former Midland line.
Thanks to Ashton @exploringthepastandthepres9793 for his input with this walk.

  1. Another great video John.
I walked the line from meadow hall to chapel town first in about 1989 , the South Yorkshire railway preservation group was based there and I believe Harry Needle , there was an immaculate green liveried class 07 diesel shunter parked where the line is sandwiched between the M1 and the gasometers but after that bit the line had been lifted to smithy wood , I always used to be fascinated by the coking plant whenever I passed it going to Sheffield on the train , the section from smithy wood to chapel town central was very over grown and difficult to walk but now easy to cycle ( well apart from that permanently locked kissing gate at chapel town lol).
