Where I live up North some charity shops are expensive and its cheaper to buy new from Primark 🤷♀️
"Was this boring??"…No… not at all! I totally enjoyed this episode 😁 I love perusing charity shops {op shops are they are called here in Australia}. Usually here, the best days to visit these shops are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, otherwise it's a bit hit and miss, with varied prices…some being very expensive for what the actual item is. It is always fabulous going on the treasure hunt…or just wandering through the shops. Have a great day 😊💐
Yeah, Those prices in them charity shops are ridicules. Here (Ireland) only around €10. Thereabouts. Thanks for your Videos. 👍
I like to go to affluent areas for charity shops, but these prices are ridiculous. I'm prepared to spend up to £45-£60 for vintage or designer, but only if it's a big ticket item like jackets or coats. I recently found a vintage Japanese Angora wool & rabbit fur coat for £45, that was originally over £700 to buy new back in the 80s. That's my heirloom coat that I'll gift to my children once I can't wear it anymore (and also have children lol).
I guess in a way the prices at the London shops stop the resellers from getting to them and selling them for insane profit, which is a plus.
Vinted is my go-to now, really. I have been so sick of sifting through all the Primark and Shein clothes. Though, in my local charity shop I did once find a Reiss Italian wool blazer, made in Italy, for £3 bloody quid!! That's my best thrift find ever.
❤❤❤
Yeah a Saturday morning shopping with Hannah without beinh out on icy pavements -+ in Scotland.Charity shops can be infuriating with prices not as they should be.Its no wonder that folks buy cheap fashion. The force that charities try on unsuspecting people is knon now.Its soooo time for a one stop Organised Charity office where thay can all get a certain amout given each year.😀
Its nice to see well organised shops. We have some lovely ones nut our oxfam shop is a mess.
Absolute rip-off! No charity in these shops anymore! Not all money made goes to the charity either
If I am thrifting for brand name clothes/shoes/bags and paying those prices, I EXPECT them to be clean, pressed and the shoes wiped down and brushed….some of those are pretty dirty.
I am not understanding the logic of no acceptance of cash payments….BUT if you want to donate cash you can???
This one is the prettiest ! ❤
Some of those records with the large hole in the center are/were 45’s from the 60’s Hannah…way before your time🤪 Yes I would love you to visit some “ boo-gee” 2nd hand shops in the “boo-gee” areas. Glad you stopped drinking alcohol for whatever reason you will continue to thrive. I love 2nd hand shops and have furnished my 20th century style apt. with items from them.❤
I know this video is a bit older but if ya happen to read this I really appreciate that you show menswear in your videos!
Charity CEOs on £300k … I’ll pass.
I went to Chelsea. Most of the clothing I found was Zara but more expensive than Zara. I found that charity shops in Henley often had higher end/ designer but with more realistic ( still not low but realistic) prices.
What camera do you use? It’s so clear and focused 😊
I gave my designer stuff to charity shops.
It’s quite rude of the shop owner of the place with second-hand items to put the notice ‘no cash- only by card and CONTACTLESS’ in capital letters onto their shop window. Is it still Covid time or is it because of the customer profile that they put up that notice there, I wonder.
Wonderful more like this please
When I can't sleep at night, I always choose the bags I like on regbags . The bags on this website are affordable and the quality is the same as the original ones. I have bought many bags on this website. I share them with all the sisters who love beauty.
You got your coat! Tea cozy!!😂 Super cute and looks great on you!
@hannahricketts
Love your jacket. Where did you find it?
Wow
Salvation Army only now. That’s a real charity
The jacket you are wearing, you brought the jacket ! Nice ❤
No the prices are outrageous for used donated clothing.
I just usually purchase from wristova as it is convenient for me to shop online and their luxury brand products are good in quality even though their shipping is late sometimes!
I working in fashion industry and used to volunteer in the charity shop, I can said that some of the luxury brand items in the charity shop are AA class copy, fake.
I like 5 er like you say not 95 er lol here in CDA we have huge thrift stores loads of clothing cheaper
I have loads of jeans and jean jacket loads of tops t shirts dresses coats pants belts purses. A 35 yr collection of things need help to sell and organize everything.. have many many clothes could change 3 times a day lol
Cash is King👍use it or lose it, then the fun will start 😟
Its very good business, they don’t pay for the staff as they are volunteers and they don’t pay for these items, probably dont pay taxes, all free but they charge people so ridiculous prices for second hand, old fashioned items playing on people’s emotions, calling themselves “charity shops” … thats the way making money in the uk! Who goes to the charity shops?! People who can’t afford to buy new ones, so it should reasonably priced! Not to make money, that way they help people who cant afford. But in this country logic doesn’t exist but they make everything to fool people.
The prices are crazy high I think?
Thank you ❤
BUT EVEN THEN. THOSE WHO WENT TO CHINA,BEFORE KNOWS….EVERYTHING IN UK IS TRIPLE CHINA PRICE
Reeboks Classic are usually up for sale for 20-30 on Vinted if they're in the same condition and it's a popular size, you have to wait for them to come up for less, what size was it (in the shop)? But generally I agree that Vinted is cheaper than offline second hand shops
Cancer Research is definitely the best one out of these 🙂
I just caught up with this vlog, and, while you may not see this, I have to comment. You continue to prove, no matter the subject, that you can always produce an enjoyable vlog. Your sparkling personality and fabulous wit can make any vlog theme a wonderful journey. But, as usual, it is the final few minutes when you “waffle on” where everything comes full circle and you are just delightful. Your earnest “Can I have six drinks in a day?” made me laugh so hard. And your microphone diss was equally funny. I thought the sound was fine. Thank you, Hannah, for all your hard work.
It's so annoying and ignorant of shops to refuse to take cash!!! If they understood the issues, they wouldn't do this!!! I live near this shop, but am disinclined to go in, because of the card stipulation, which I think is rude to customers.
Charity shops are NOT really "charity" shops! They get preferential rent etc, but get their merchandise for free and then only give a small proportion of their profilts to charity. Nice little earner!
I remember when that Gail's shop was a Post Office! That was ages ago…
Good to find a new place to buy vinyl, i.e. the Oxfam shop, in St. John's wood! 👍🏻
Love the jacket
Thank God I'm not into designer shoes or bags
A Cashless society will be the death of many. It is a cruel thing to bring in.
Whose choice is it to bring it in? Ours?
– I think not!
What about the homeless? What will they do? What about The buskers?
—People who don’t have a bank acct- It is so wrong- I just can’t believe Londoner’s are accepting this! Where are the protests outside parliament and the banks?
We must stand up for each other- not just for ourselves.
you judged it quite well , some stuff was overpriced which is silly when you can buy new for nearly same price
