My current bike ( https://www.cubestores.co.uk/products/cube-travel-pro-denim-silver-2023 ) has unneccessarily wide tires (basically mountainbike tires) and Im thinking about selling it to get a proper bike. Sure, I could just switch both tires but it would look pretty goofy with how wide the fork is, so yeah.
Anyway, before going through all that, how big is the difference between "normal" width and bigger ones if it comes to endurance? Because thats my main concern. Im not exactly athletic but still fit enough to do bigger tours at a decent speed and absolutely do notice a difference between my current bike and a friends with thinner tires. But his bike has different gears as well as chains instead of a belt drive, so his bike is completely different anyway, so its hardly a fair comparison. I do intend to do some bigger tours once spring/summer comes, so I dont want to waste energy on fat mountainbike tires. Especially because I will carry around a lot of stuff (as I want to do tours that go over several days). I might still be overthinking though. There is also the fact that this bike has a belt drive, something where people also say that its less efficient than good old chains.
Oh well, I just want to hear some opinions. Im sure Im overthinking a LOT, its just something thats in my mind for months.
tl;dr: I have fat tires and never drive offroad anyway, should I get slimmer tires?
