Nice video! I love to see the atmosphere and street views there in the island through the view point of a cyclist.π I would occasionally even watch a full 1 hour version without much editing.π
Been following your jonrey for some time now. Love your cycle touring plans. I used to be a pretty serious amateur cyclist. So, here are my two cents on how to build up for the trip. Tenerife is very easy for a cyclist, so plan on trying to make things harder, to be better prepared for more dificult conditions. 1) Distance: Build up the distance of your longest rides gradually. This is the most important training stimulous. Do not stop or take a break on these days. Have a bottle of water, and a few bananas. Drink little and often, eat half a banana every 20-60 minutes depending on the pace. Eat early and little. So just start with 1 or 2 bites. Eating while riding is a skill so you should do experiment with it where there are few cars and otherwise safe. Focus on starting easy, never start hard, that's a beginners mistake. If you feel good on say the way back from Terresitas then you can experiment with picking up the pace on when riding back home (it always feels easier riding hard when you know you are on your way back). 2) I was just realising that you don't really need much else for your goals. Aim to build up your weekly mileage gradually with shorte days, but put remember that the long days are the most important and those long days will gradually turn you into real cyclists. The distance will become easier and your easy pace will gradually become faster but stay just as easy. The most important thing for your trip is to be able to turn your bodies into fat buirning machines. You train this by going conversational pace and going long. – Sorry for this long winded comment. I wish you all the best. 3) Yes, and do some hills. Long gradual hills are best. But do occasional short but steep. Do this on one of your short days.
