Come with me to Matlock Bath. Derbyshire’s Spa town and the nearest thing Derbyshire has to a seaside resort. Carved out by the Derwent river this deep gorge houses the unusual small town of Matlock Bath. For centuries water from the surrounding hills, warmed by underground volcanic action has emerged in the form of springs. Valued for it’s therapeutic properties people from miles around came to bathe in the water. The first hotel was built in the late 1600’s to accommodate them and the town grew in popularity and size because of the springs and bath’s. Nowadays it’s a popular visiting spot with all the trappings of a seaside resort. I visit the Aquarium with it’s petrifying well, the swimming pool that has now become a large pond for Koi Carp and numerous aquariums, some Saltwater Marine and others Freshwater, housing fish both large and small.
I also check out the Motor Cycle visitors and the numerous cafe’s, fish and chip shops, amusement arcades and novelty shops. The only thing that’s missing is a beach.

nice place and nice video
Great tour. That’s my kind of resort.
I’ve only ever heard of Bath- one can’t help associating it with Austen.
