  1. Parliament please listen to this statement you are selling out our very brave and slightly mad special forces and we need people like that right now more than ever

  2. It's a good job monty,s private life was not widely known at that time as he would of been court marshalled and most probably jailed then dishonerably discharged

  3. Spoilers but

It's later revealed that Monty is quoting verbatim what Col. Stirling (The guy who says "Paddy…!" as a warning) told him previously in an argument over what the SAS should be used for.

  4. Best part about the series is if you go away and actually research the true events… they’re even more crazy than the show.. the man was a true hero absolutely through and through.

  5. Seeing how shite the bbc are they didn’t do a bad job on this SAS series, it’s well worth a watch but still doesn’t contemplate the cost of this crappy channel.

  6. When I was young, many performers were still doing, what was considered, quite accurate impressions of Monty. None sounded like this. Even the 1958 film, I was Monty's Double, based on the autobiography of M. E. Clifton James, who re-created his role of impersonting Monty in the film as he did in real life during the war.

  7. My Grandfather who served in North Africa and Italy, adored Monty and sent him a poem he wrote and in return received a thank you letter signed by Monty himself. This letter takes pride of place in my front room.

  8. I wonder if Monty saw a bit of himself in Paddy Mayne. After all, Monty was a bit of a renegade when it came to regulation, he wore two cap badges at all times in direct violation of this.

  9. "men like these should not run at machine guns, it is an abuse of their courage"

As opposed to other soldiers where its fine to send peoples sons into the line of fire? They are disposable?
