  1. Speaking of wind tunnels, during a speed skating competition in Milwaukee last week, organizers used wind blowers to create a tailwind for the skaters. Great method for breaking track records… But at some point, tweaking the conditions and technology too much crosses a line where it's no longer a fair competition. The same goes for the "world's fastest bike".

  2. Just look at the "About Us" part of the website. The duo sell bikes under T-RED branding. One of 'em is a marketing-maven by trade while the other claims to know something about material science. Sadly, the bike biz is full of people with dodgy credentials claiming proven expertise in fields they may not know anything about…but the rubes suck it up for some reason?

  3. Insoles are only needed because our shoes suck. Toe boxes are too narrow and push your big toe inward toward the center line of your foot. This forces your arch to collapse because the force through your foot isn't distributed the way our bodies are designed to function. There's very slow progress being made with shoe design but for over a century shoe designs have been for aesthetics and go completely against healthy human anatomy.

There will of course be exceptions to that and some people do legitimately need fitted insoles. They should be a rare exception on an individual basis.

  4. Next Shimano is going to make the end cues called cues-ace. Then when that is a success because e shifting is absolute trash they will make an e shifting version. Those idiots should've just kept mechanical versions of their old group sets

  5. Normally you would spend more for durability and ease of use less maintenance, in the cycling industry you pay top dollar for e shifting that breaks more, is harder to maintain and doesn't last as long.

  6. (About the Toot THEFALCON bike)

Ticks all the boxes? More like, fits in all the UCI boxes.

(Thank you, I’ll get my coat.)

  7. Flightdeck handlebars : what if the screen was connected to a forward camera, you could hold an incredibly aero position for an entire TT! Come on Dr Aero Ollie, feel the watts!

  8. Kudos for citing Carl Sagan.

As for the saving of Canyon, I wonder if they did not forget some magnitude of order in their press release: 65 tonnes kg of CO2 is peanut, it is equivalent to one less flight between Heathrow and Mallorca. According to Canyon, they emitted 82 800 tonnes of kgCOeq. We are talking about 0.08% of reduction.

They would have saved orders of magnitude more by increasing delivery time but using trains to transport their bike 😵‍💫🤷

  9. Garmin 1050 = 599gbp, Enve 1 Piece Aero = 1399gbp, 1998gbp total. If Flitedeck could execute, the price would not be unreasonable based on current market for similar products.

  10. My first thoughts were „this is a contraption Adam Hansen might like“. I like if designers try to deviate from the tradition, the new Ridley is also an example. The questionable bits is the claims. „We have modelled that you could enter the Arenberg at 0.67% light speed at 400 watts and when the front whee disintegrates you have enough momentum to fly into the ditch on the other side“

  11. I don't know the cliff behind the 3T, but I'm pretty certain I can see chalked holds up above the handlebars so presumably its rock that people climb or boulder on. Someone else thought maybe Central Park NYC, I walked past Rat Rock where NYC climbers have bouldered for decades (didn't have my climbing shoes so didn't climb myself) but it was 20 odd years ago so don't remember exactly what it looks like – but maybe. Any other climbing-cyclists or cycling -climbers out there with suggestions?

  12. According to one of their recent videos World Bicycle Relief have put two chains onto their Buffalo. It would be great if GCN covered this and explained the reasons why. 👍😀

  13. I personally think this Toot Racing is better looking than that Y1RS. If the numbers are true i'd like to try one. But I think the numbers are rubbish since they are stitched from 3 separate test sessions performed by different groups of ppl in different windtunnels and test conditions. For a brand that claims a rider centric approach to performance, it's laughable at best to have so much variability in testing parameters alone.

  14. I didn't have Neil DeGrasse Tyson commenting publicly about cycling on my 2025 bingo card.

But, I'm not surprised. He'll yap about anything but his doctoral field if you give him room to. I thought I'd be safe from him here, but nope😂
