Neil van der Vyver has only just turned 17 years old, but the South African already has a string of two-wheel racing titles to his credit.

Before he had properly turned 13, Neil already had four South African motocross championship titles in the bag, and he also made two successful forays into international competition.

Neil switched to mountainbike racing, and it did not take long before he continued along his winning ways. In his first full championship season, he collected a brace of national – and provincial titles in MTB XCO and MTB Enduro disciplines.

Neil has his sights firmly set on top-level international competition in the sport, and he will travel to Spain in February 2025 to participate in a world championship qualifying event.

Neil was one of our very early guests on Velospitty (Speed Talk), on that occasion with his trainer and dad, and we had no hesitation at all in inviting him to join us again to chat about his racing history and the way forward.
