I am in the process of updating an old GT Outpost to use as a dirt touring bike. It has a square taper BB currently. Would that bottom bracket shell be compatible with a modern BSA threaded BB for a Shimano Hollowtech crankset?
Also, all of the current 1x cranks are for 10/11/12 speed. This bike is 8 speed. Would there be any issues using one? I can’t think of a reason why it wouldn’t work. They are just narrow/wide chainrings like the chinese one that is on it.
