Highlights of the 2023 Maryland Cycling Classic. The biggest one-day race in the United States returns for its second edition. It’s a 199.4km hilly route with almost 3,000m of climbing, finishing with four laps of a circuit around Baltimore.

This was the worst race commentary ever. (in my opinion) I watched the whole thing, and both commentators were so distracted from the race. They were more interested in talking about themselves than what was happening. The best they did was shoot out random names of riders, but barely explain what was going on while riders were racing but no, instead we had brief moments of awkward silence as if they didn't know what bike racing was. Come on…this is the biggest cycling event in the US which is already a big deal. I really hope the commentary for Montreal and Quebec will be better since it's both UCI (1. UWT) races. Before anyone gets mad, this is my PERSONAL opinion, feel free to disagree.

What happened to legions, usually they have 2 teams 2 different names when they race around LA or California but this time was like naaaa naaa naaa…
What a chaotic race. 4 riders really let someone open a 2 min gap on them in the final miles? That's shameful.

As someone from the area, I have no idea why any big teams would wanna race in that dump of a city😅
From where I was standing on the course, it seemed like Powless was doing a lot of the work in that final group. I’m impressed that he came back for 2nd after getting distanced.
It's always nice when North American cycling fans can get a chance to see some World Tout pros race. Next up are the races in Quebec City and Montreal.

Maryland rolling hills are something else, that constant up and down will burn your legs quickly specially at the pros level pace

Baltimore is primarily known for horse racing since it's one of the Triple Crown cites. It hosts the Preakness race at Pimlico every year.
