The cyclocross world will have its eyes fixed on Liévin, France, from 31 January to 2 February, as the sport’s two biggest stars, Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert, go head-to-head at the Cyclocross World Championships. Van der Poel enters the event as the heavy favourite, aiming to equal the record of seven cyclocross world titles. Meanwhile, Van Aert, a three-time world champion, has announced at short notice that he will in fact be racing for rainbow this weekend.

  2. Given the form and level MVDP is on its hard to see anyone getting the better of him but its cross anything can happen remember when WVA won in 2017 with the green tyres😉

  3. Don’t expect WVA to beat MVP in this race, but after the knee injury he suffered near the end of last seasons road racing program he’s looking good for the Classics and Grand Tours this season👍

  4. MvdP is simply the better one. Only MvdP can beat MvdP. Hope none of them crashes or has a mechanical. Let’s see a nice race with MvdP getting equal to the record of overall number of world wins.

  5. MVP is the favorite and deserves the designation. He is clearly the strongest CX racer this season. But it’s CX, anything can happen. A mechanical or major crash and the race is lost. Wout will put added pressure on MVP and with that pressure comes greater risk. Can’t wait. I’ll be watching every pedal turn.
