‘You have to stop, it’s the LAW!’ Angry pedestrian blocks cyclist and gives him an earful as he tries to speed through zebra crossing.

He then body-blocked the man on the bike from proceeding further up the road for several seconds, as other cyclists – who had halted at the crossing – looked on.

  1. Cyclists are saving the planet from global warming and so are exempt from all normal social decency like feminists, BLM, LGBTQI++, French Bulldog owners…

  2. Oddly enough, the walker didn't jump in front of the car as he crossed the other side of the road as the car went by behind him in the same way the cyclist did. I wonder why that is. As to this interaction, the walker first intentionally slowed down his walking stride and put himself in a position to get in the cyclist's way, then came to a stop just outside the cyclist's path, and then walked back in front of the cyclist. Had he not intentionally gotten in the cyclist's way, then the cyclist would have gone by him without an incident as there was no one walking behind him as the cyclist would have seen. The rider definitely should have slowed down a bit more before the crosswalk for safety, to give pedestrians a bit more room, and just in case a walker does something unexpected like fall down or drop something, but it seems to me that he timed it pretty well if it hadn't been for the walker intentionally jumping in his way.

  3. There's nothing more cringe-inducing than seeing a fully grown adult riding a bicycle.
I personally think that bicycles should be BANNED from the roads and relegated to share-paths and parks only.

These people should put away the childish things and drive a car, walk or catch public transport like adults are supposed to do. I stopped playing with toys when I was 12 years old. It's time that these people grew up and acted their age.

  4. Except he doesn't know the law.

Rule 20 of the Highway Code: ‘You do not need to wait until a pedestrian has finished crossing both zebra crossings before moving off, as they can wait on the middle island until it is safe to cross the second zebra crossing.’

    🤷‍♂

  5. Yes,the cyclist is very wrong and everyone should be angry with him, I get it.
But who was more a danger for the pedestrians of this zebra crossing? The cyclist who was going BEHIND the annoyed pedestrian or the taxi who didn't stop IN FRONT of the pedestrians at 0:00?
Yes, I understand that the rule is not to proceed through the zebra if there is still a pedestrian on it, but isn't it what the taxi does on the right side of the picture at 0:04?
But of course, it's more difficult to stop a 1 ton car…

  6. Watch the video. The pedestrian STOPS and turns back to get in the cyclist's way. I understand the cyclist is supposed to wait until the zebra is clear before proceeding, but the pedestrian acted in an aggressive manner in order to confront the cyclist. If the pedestrian had simply kept walking without turning back, there would have been no contact between the two.
