spend two days with us exploring riga, the stunning capital of latvia! whether you’re into history, architecture, cozy cafés, or unique cultural vibes, riga has something special to offer. we arrived early from tallinn, and our trip kicked off with an interesting (and slightly shocking) first interaction—a racist bolt driver who gave us an unexpected welcome! 🙃 don’t worry, the city definitely redeemed itself.
here’s what we did:
– started the day with amazing coffee and pastries at kalve espresso room, one of riga’s best cafés.
– explored the beautiful nativity of christ cathedral, a stunning piece of orthodox architecture.
– stopped by the freedom monument, a symbol of latvia’s independence.
– admired the incredible art nouveau architecture on alberta street—seriously, this street is a dream for architecture lovers.
– had a medieval feast at rozengrals, where it felt like stepping into the 1400s with great food and a cozy vibe.
– wandered through the massive riga central market, one of europe’s largest markets and perfect for trying local food.
– visited the iconic house of the black heads, a must-see in riga’s old town with fascinating history and beautiful interiors.
– ended the day with amazing views from the national library of latvia, also called the “castle of light.”
we also explored some cute cafés like crumble cake and rocket bean, walked by the famous three brothers houses, and tried traditional latvian food at lido, an ikea-style buffet restaurant (definitely an experience!). oh, and the snowy streets and cozy lights in january made everything feel super magical.
if you’re planning a trip to riga or just curious about this baltic gem, this video is for you! let me know in the comments if you have any questions or need travel tips.
