On this outing, I took my Brompton on a train from Liverpool Lime Street to Hamilton Square in the Wirral. Coming out of the station I turned left onto Bridge Street and headed towards Canning Street (A554) & Tower Road to pick up the Wirral Circular Trail (WCT) / National Cycle Network (NCN) route 56 signs to head towards Secombe and the New Brighton coastline (King Charles iii Parade).
At the Wallasey golf club, I followed the NCN route 568 (coastal route) to head towards Meols, Hoylake & West Kirby. This stretch had quite a strong head wind in places!
At west Kirby, I followed the NCN route 568 & 56 (Wirral Way) heading towards the Wirral County Park, Thurstaston, Parkgate, Willaston (where the old station has been converted into a Café) and finally to Hooton railway station to get a return train to Liverpool Lime Street.
The route is very accessible and cycle friendly, although I had to push the Brompton along some stretches of the 568 (along Leasowe golf club) which was covered by sand drift, as well as a few small sections of the Wirral Way where the smooth cinder surface had eroded to reveal rough hardcore.
