Hi and welcome to WannaGoBiking. My name is Arjan and it is time for a new cycling adventure!
Three years ago I started cycling in the Northeast of France, expecting to ride to the Southwest in about a month’s time. Things did not work out due to extreme weather near Lyon. So I came back the next year but was again stopped by heavy rains before going into the Pyrenees. So in 2024 I finally saw an opportunity to finish this trip.
I left my Dutch hosts at the Relais du Chateau and set out for Tarbes and Lourdes. A hard day in terms of elevation gain but a beautiful one for the landscapes. Tarbes was a bit underwhelming but Lourdes surprisingly cheap..

@7:52 In fact you can drink this water. The sign is only there by law because it wasn't processed. Many times i saw locals coming to drink from it. General rule is: if the water is clear and cold it should be ok of course i also have a water filter with me just to be sure. It has helped ne a lot during bikepacking trips in France and Southern Europe. About the snow on the mountain peaks in summer. It was always like that but sadly because of the climate change this also disappears…you were lucky yo witness the last bits of it. Enjoying your videos,always fun to watch. Groetjes uit België.
