Chose Munich because it's one of the cheaper airports to fly to from where I am (California US). I'll be taking a combination of the Via Claudia Augusta and EV7. Looking to get advice on a couple questions I have:
1 – There's a portion of off-road on the VCA through Fernpass, but I'm not sure what kind of off-road it is. My bike is gravel-capable, but just trying to find out what I should expect.
2 – From Imst, there are 3 options as far as I can tell: (1) Follow the VCA and take Reschenpass, (2) My current plan – go to Solden and up Timmelsjoch to Merano, (3) Go to Innsbruck and take Brennerpass. What would be your preference? I have seen comments saying that Reschenpass and Brennerpass are kind of underwhelming, hence my hesitation around this section.
3 – Any suggestion on how I should approach Lago di Garda?
4 – I plan on leaving my hard case in Munich somewhere and taking the train Verona -> Munich afterward. Any bike-friendly hotel recommendations that can store my case for 5-6 days (I don't mind paying a small fee)?
