When I was a lad, my dad had a 1973 Elsinore Honda CR125 parked in the hallway with his local race trophies around it.
He loved that bike, but never rode it.
When he was growing up he dreamed of having that bike. Once he was older and hit a windfall, he immediately bought one and restored it. It really was a work of art, that silver green combo, I can still imagine it in front of me to this day.
Sometime in the early 2000’s or so he had to sell it to cover bills. Guy invested a lot into the Canondale MX bike project and lost his shorts.
He passed a few years ago. But he left me a lifelong love of off-road racing/MX/MTB.
Im older now, and fortunate enough to buy all my dream bikes. Really wanted to try the Propain Suspension, because the PRO10 linkage is really interesting on paper.
When I built it up, and came back in the garage to look at the beautiful stead, I got a Deja vu feeling. It was the excitement/admiration/thrill I got seeing that silver Elsinore in the hallway growing up.
So naturally I designed a tribute bike, so I can always get that feeling when I see it. I found the original Honda green color code, and recreated the same font from Honda. Hope none of you narc on me for copying the trademark gold wing.
Topped it off with his old race number in the front logo. I like to think he is still there with me now when I’m riding. “Look ahead”, “elbows out”…. and I can still hear the laughs coming down the trail behind me when I crash too.
This bike is really special to me now, and I just wanted to share it with you all.
