Either you are spending holiday in Northern Portugal or in Porto, you should definitely go for this route! I am fortunate enough to live here nearby, so for me, it was “just” a Sunday Ride.
I rode from home to Mondim de Basto to meet my family over there and have lunch. BTW in Mondim de Basto you should definitely check out this small, typically Portuguese restaurant called Casa de Caínha 👇

To make this route even better and more scenic, you should start from Amarante, then from Mondim de Basto cycle back to Amarante via the old railway line, which is a eco path nowadays. Here is a link to this loop, from my friend Jorge:
