  1. Maybe you and a few other fellow World Wide train bloggers could send Amtrak suggestions on what to install / or how to configure the cars to be most comfortable – you clearly stated you though this bed was a little narrow – how much wider would have been better. Amtrak here in the states is supposedly looking to replace its' aging fleet – it would be nice to implement some of the best ideas from around the world. Safe Travels

  2. I recall doing the sleeper service from Euston to Stirling in March 1983. Back then you could also take your car which went in a truck at the rear of the train. I don’t recall getting much sleep in my bunk or much food on board. I think there was a wake up call and a cup of tea and off the train at about 6am in Stirling. Then a short wait while my car was off loaded. I then found a hotel for some breakfast and was travelling on to Glencoe for a week of skiing.
Not a good skiing experience as facilities were very primitive back then.

  3. Team building outing???
My only Anglo-Scottish sleeper trip was Edinburgh-London in the mid 1980s, no plans to repeat given the prices – even with an old codgers railcard.
Looking forward to my Budapest-Stuttgart sleeper in March though.

  4. I can vouch for the seating to be extremely uncomfortable. They dont tell you till you have PAID that you have to vacate the train at Edinburgh at 03:30 and stand around in the cold whilst the train is shunted around!! I went in October this year. The toilets were blocked and filling the corridor with you know what. Never again.

  5. I rode the Caledonian Sleeper from Fort William to London in May 2018. The equipment in this video is a big improvement over my train which was running way past its expiration date. I love the design of the new diner lounge burt I'm not sure how comfortable those low back stools are. Thanks for taking me on a free ride through the breathtaking Scottish Highlands again.

  6. 9:00 I recently looked at doing Glasgow-London the classic room. With a railcard they wanted £170 roughly. Boarding in Aberdeen ? Only £120

21:25 Virtually all routes and all accommodation types (yes I've done seated).
You never know what you'll get on the Caledonian Sleeper- I've had it all from faultless to ending up stranded 600 miles away .

  7. Night trains are alright for business travel or locals, however, as a visitor to GB I wouldn't want to travel at night. I would miss what I came to the country for: the scenery. I'd prefer to extent my vacation days or come back (preferably) at another time.

  8. Excellent as always. Reviews are a bit mixed for the Caledonian sleeper service so yours was a delight to see, it being so good. We miss the weekly vlogs so good to see this one. Next time I’m sure you will introduce it with yourself in the frame.

  9. My only trip on the equivalent to this train was in 1971! A mark ! compartment coach with the old bouncy seats. Some of us tried to sleep in the luggage racks, which promptly gave way! It took forever and we we deposited at Corrour with a two day hike to Fort William plus climbing Ben Nevis. Unforgetable, especially the midges!
