I have a 50-34/11-34 105 Di2 on a Canyon Endurace CF SLX 7 Di2, and was playing around with the syncro-shift settings in the E-Tube app. The first set of ratios at the bottom of each photo shows those when the 34t chainring is used and the second set shows those when the 50t chainring is used. The highlighted ratios show where the default simultaneous FD and RD shifts occur. The first photo shows the upshift position (green) and the second photo shows the downshift position (blue).

The left and right buttons set the point at which the FD changes and the sprocket that the RD will shift to. Shimano seem to be preventing cross-chaining because only a selection of ratios can be chosen (smart).

The default settings shift just fine, but I thought I’d alter the FD upshift to still occur at 2.00, but have the RD shift to 2.08 instead of 2.38. Big mistake: that caused almost a full crank rotation before the group had settled!

I’m a tall 105Kg and try to find the flattest routes as a result. Any suggestions for optimising the shifting ratios to play to that riding scenario?

Oh, having come from a 1x SRAM Rival, I also changed the shifter behaviour to mimic it: rear left shifter shifts the RD inboard, rear right shifter shifts the RD outboard, and front left and right do the same for the FD. I’m really happy that Shimano allows such customisability.
