  1. You've just triggered off an old memory for me Karl: I can recall driving my bus over Quainton bridge one hot summer's day, more than 30 years ago.
    When I passed the green-roofed buildings (in whose entrance you stopped for the van) there was a truly horrendous smell that literally made me retch. I'm not talking normal "countryside" smells here either; you expect those. No, this was truly stomach-turning.
    I don't know if the sewers had backed up, or there was a dead animal nearby, but I've never forgotten it!

  2. What a contrast, a project costing billions and the ordinary roads used by the majority of us suffering from years of neglect! Also, as you have pointed out Karl, the surface of the shared use path over the new bridge on the A418 leaves a lot to be desired.
