After a delay of two pandemic filled years, we finally set out to Cycle the Arctic Coast of Norway. Come along to see what didn’t happen. What started out as a trip full of anticipation and hope didn’t turn out as planned. Maybe we will try again next year. Lots of other adventures to look forward to this year.

  1. That sucks dude! Sorry your visit didnt go to plan… Your timing were very unlucky with the strikes before you arrived and when you were there…. Hopefully you'll come back to Norway some day, and i hope the visit will be much better.

  2. what on earth did you do to Murphy?!?!! I've never seen so many things go wrong. I know you only showed the video of when you were able to hold in the frustration, but thanks for keeping it semi positive. 👍

  3. I feel so bad for you two, if you feel comfortable you should messasge me with your email and i'll try go give you some treats from Norway, i live in Tromsø.

  4. I am so sorry to hear of your troubles that just seemed to keep rolling.! I could hear the frustration in your normally optimistic voice and demeanor . Let’s hope the next trip goes a lot better!

  5. So sorry for all the misfortunes you both had. I just got back from my 5 week biking tour to the Nordkapp of Norway 400 miles above the Arctic Circle. I would try to get back to Lofoten and Senja Islands if possible, you would enjoy. The hardest part of my journey was trying to get south 1200 miles to fly home from Trondheim .I finally booked a 4 day journey on a working ship with some 30 plus stops along the way. Some stops were for only 15 minutes. The price was only around $250.00 for my bicycle and myself and I saw beautiful views from the sea & fjords where I just biked. If you decide to return and want any ideas feel free to reach out
    All the best,Tom
Ps I also have COVID with symptoms ,but I had all my four jabs which helps

  6. Mate! I'm sad that you ran into such difficulties, but on the upside it's great you got over your bout of COVID. Penelope (TravelFunMusic) sends her regards too. We're about to take a flight from Manchester to Croatia and both terrified the airline will lose our bikes and luggage. 😳 We wish you better luck for your next adventure. Charles

  7. Oh No, Jan and Steve, so sorry to hear all the trouble! Glad you were able to get over COVID. You two are real troopers and wishing you much better adventures in the future! Regards, Joyce

  8. Wow……..I am sorry to hear about your travel and covid problems Steve. To organise and be looking forward to your epic cycling trip for two years, only to be disappointed with flight delays, lost luggage and covid must of been awful for you and your wife.
I Sincerely hope that you both are very well now, take care😊

  9. Hey Steve, how are you doing? I see you were traveling. That's great stuff. Too bad that they lost your baggage, but I like your positive attitude, you just deal with it. That's the way to do it. Have a wonderful day 🙂

  10. So sorry for your misadventure after waiting so long to go. Hoping you get to try again. By the way the bridge over the Hudson River is the George Washington Bridge, the Verrazano Narrows bride connects Staten Island with Brooklyn, NY.

  11. Fortunately, you have a loving companion at your side to share your life with. Thank you for sharing this "adventure" with us in such a calm, matter-of-fact way. Most people would likely be so annoyed by the constant stream of mishaps that listening to what happened to them would have been difficult. Ironically, giving an ear to your misfortunes would rank near the top of the most enjoyable such misadventure videos I’ve ever seen (a dubious distinction). Of course, I feel bad that things didn’t work out as planned. Sometimes such things happen for a good reason. You showed us how not to let life’s difficulties get us down. Love that attitude.

  12. Oh my God, Steve! Talk about Murphy's Law! That really was a "misadventure"! Sorry about all that you two had to go through — very frustrating!

My wife and I didn't ride the fjords like I wished we had, but we stayed for a few days in a beautiful AirBnB directly across from a fjord which we got to fish in a little dingy; and, we caught a pair of ocean trout which our host said was one of the very best fish to catch.

We did, however, rent Cannondale e-bikes for the very first time in Ålesund and got to tour around the city, which was very enjoyable. But, that wasn't even close to Darren's adventures with his various friends along the fjords. 🙂

I hope you and Jan get to revisit Norway without all of the complications that you two faced the first time out! 👍
