In this lecture Dan will:
– Introduce the UK’s fusion strategy and outline how UKAEA are leading the public sector involvement in delivering on this
– Provide an overview of the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) programme as a means of achieving the goals of the UK fusion strategy
– Explain some of the key technical challenges which need to be overcome to realise fusion energy as a commercial proposition
– Describe how the Fusion Industry Programme is stimulating growth of the UK fusion ecosystem and preparing it for the future global fusion power plant market
– Outline how the fusion cluster is drawing together a community of the UK’s brightest minds and organisations to achieve fusion faster.
