I read somewhere Chladonova is aiming for world champs but also decided with new team that It is better for her to prepare well for new road seasson and then restart the cross seasson just before worlds (I think she mentioned Benidrom).
Also she definitely wants to continue racing in cross and because of that and road she sacrificed MTB.
MTB’s biggest issue is that its calendar clashes with the road season, unlike CX, making it really difficult to combine the two disciplines.
Elsewhere, I watched the Brand-Rochette podcast yesterday with Zoe Backstedt as their guest. They asked if she was doing the elites or U23s at the worlds and she would not say which. But they did confirm that once you race in the elite championship you cannot step back down to the U23 class even if you are still young enough. I never knew that.
