The car should definitely not have bombed it through like that and should have just held back. Long vehicles often need to use wider routes around roundabouts and the highway code actually points to this and says to stay back and give them space.

However, if the tractor wasn't taking the exit, it should not have been in that lane unless it absolutely had to be and no amount of indicating makes it OK to carry on round from the far left lane there. Indicating is saying what you intend on doing but your road positioning and speed are also signals. Indicating doesn't give you priority to carry on. Priority is given, not taken. You technically should have taken the exit and cut across him.
