The story of a cathedral that withstood time and fire alike through sheer ingenuity, a unique Cathedral Documentary. ⛪🔥

Some 80 kilometers from Paris stands Chartres Cathedral, a building that’s over 800 years old and the secrets of which are only starting to be unveiled by today’s experts. It’s a medieval superstructure, one of the first Gothic cathedrals in history, wider and taller than Notre-Dame de Paris. At the time it was erected, it was the highest building in the world after the Pyramids.

In Chartres, everything is out of the ordinary: The dimensions, for one, but also the speed of construction. How could such a colossal undertaking be completed in less than 30 years? What technical revolution allowed Chartres to have such huge stained-glass windows, forcing Notre-Dame de Paris to make bigger ones? And how, after a fire, was the gigantic frame replaced by a metallic structure 40 years prior to the construction of the Eiffel Tower?

Thanks to ultra-realistic computer-generated imagery and interviews with architecture specialists, you’re about to discover all the secrets of Chartres, an unparalleled cathedral that has achieved one architectural feat after another for almost a thousand years, and which still attracts over a million and a half visitors annually. A unique construction documentary.

  1. Great content, as always! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?

  2. I was lucky enough to spend a week in Chartres in 2006 while there for a graduate course emphasizing the Cathedral, its history and architcture. There was also an emphasis on the Chartres labyrinth (which sadly got no mention in the video.) The Chartres Cathedral is an amazing, mystical place and well worth the easy side trip from Paris if one happens to be visiting the City of Lights and looking for something beyond.

  3. Great documentary. It would have been better if the current restoration efforts had been covered in more detail, it's jarring to see the main area of the church fully cleaned and restored, while the side aisles remain blackened with soot. Is that going to change? It's an obvious question the viewer would have from watching this footage. Also, when the tower collapse at Bourges Cathedral had been mentioned, it would have been good to see contemporary depictions of that building before and after the event, or any depictions of the collapse itself. Considering the impact that collapse had on the design of Chartres Cathedral, I think it's a pretty important visual. I had to stop the video and go look it up on Wikipedia, because I was curious about it.
