Hi Everyone!
I recently went full commuter and got myself t pannier rack and bag, I found it difficult to find a reasonably priced pannier that could be used for commuting (15″ padded laptop compartment etc). I eventually settled on the Altura Grid 20L pannier, expecting it to be decent quality and last. I’ve ended up having a terrible experience with the lower rack hook’s 3 screws being exposed inside, wearing through all the padding and damaging both my laptop and phone in just a few weeks of use! The center screws was also about to come off when I started inspecting the bag more closely. (And rusted??!)
I genuinely expected better from Altura and also in general expected that pannier bags shouldn’t have sharp machine screws sticking out on the inside. Could they really not cover it with some plastic?? I felt all around the inside of the bag/lining to see if I could feel for 3 plastic nuts or loose pieces and there was nothing.
Unfortunately, I purchased it off a marketplace seller on Mountain Warehouse and don’t have the original tags so my returns claim may not go through.
Either way, after this disappointment, I’m looking for any suggestions for a better pannier solution that (hopefully) also doesn’t break the bank!
