Wagner was not the most lovable person but his musical ability , operatic and orchestrated output is unrivalled across the entire “ classical “ universe. Fan of Beethoven and Pink Floyd here .

This is not a great movie about the life of Wagner, but a delusive dementia without dimension. There could come a great movie about Wagner's life, but when none know. Listen to the prelude from Lohengrin Act 3 and hear something that kills, if you want a kick. Don't watch this.

Its nice to see an extended biopic as opposed to the two hours of compressed and formulaic Hollywood artist biopic. For a 1983 TV miniseries this is excellent cinematic craftsmanship.
