The Lake District has many “famous” loops but is there one as synonymous with lake district riding as the Borrowdale Bash?

Weirdly, this was our first time and we were literally blown away by the views! Every time we turned a corner or reached a summit we were greeted with incredible vistas and it was certainly one to remember!
On this particular day, we were treated to stunning cloud inversions over Derwent Water, creating a moody and surreal atmosphere that made the experience feel like something out of a dream.

This edit combines awe-inspiring drone footage with immersive POV action and emotive commentary, all set to music that matches the beauty of the visuals. It’s one of my best edits yet and the perfect way to end what has been an incredible year of growing the channel.

A huge thank you to the Borrowdale Bash itself for being the ultimate playground for mountain biking and adventure. If you’ve never experienced this legendary route, now is the time to put it on your list!

This is the second edit in a series of Best UK Winter Rides to help you find awesome places that ride super well through the winter months to stave of the winter blues! In the “mindful moment” I share a simple technique that helps to re-frame negative thoughts and bring gratefulness even on the most challenging days.

  1. Excellent edit, this has been on my list of " to do " for a while. Finally out on a group ride round The Bash this Friday. This video has only added to the excitement. Hopefully the weather will play ball and I get some decent footage..

  2. Nice to meet you both. The route was a first for me and I have just relived some of those sections watching your video back. Stunning scenery but it was difficult to take your eyes off the track ahead. The descent down from Castle Crag was interesting. Great video with the drone footage.

  3. Class video….glad you both enjoyed that route! You nailed that section at 9.20 in….I chose the wrong line on 2 rides….only my 3rd I got it 🤣

  4. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was in fact such an amazingly well timed one for me for 2 reasons. Firstly, I've been looking at doing this route and knowing what it's like as part of your winter series is superb. Secondly, your commentary on switching around the way you verbalise things was also very on point for me in a very personal way right now. Thanks for the 'pep talk'. I needed that wee kick today. 👍👍🙂

  5. Fantastic edit of a great ride! Well done on getting down the tricky crux bouldery bit first time, so humble at the end too LOL. I have a story to tell (in person) about the first time I did that route. I let out a WHAT! when you named Lyndsey's new bike 😂 Sound reasoning. Welcome to Team Spesh @mrsmindfulMTB 😃 Hope you continue to enjoy!

  6. Good tip. I would like to go to bed but I am braising red cabbage and brining Turkey. It definitely feels different if I think that I get to prep for a family Christmas dinner

  7. Nine weeks off the bike at the moment so far, through a combination of concussion and life throwing spanners. I definitely need me some mindfulness… Merry Christmas J, L & H…

  8. Great that. Despite habing ridden for decades and been all over England, Scotland, Wales etc – and lots of holidays and camping in the Lakes, I've never really done much MTB there. I reckon thats a nice plan for 2025!
