– Maritime Centre Vellamo in Kotka (several exhibitions about life at sea)
– Stockfors Works (old ironworks, with really cool art exhibitions)
– Strömfors Ironworks (a home base for craftspeople, creative industries and tourism entrepreneurs – including B&B Strömfors Bed & Bistro)
– Tykkimäki resort (stay in a cabin or cottage at the lake)

You can reach Kouvola by train from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

  1. For me the best thing about Finland is how close the wild nature is, even in the south where most people live. I spent my childhood in Lake Finland, great place to grow up. Perhaps you knew it already, Finland has the "everyman's right", wild nature is free for everyone to enjoy, whether the land is privately owned or not.
