Three days we spent on the open sea, taking a freight ferry boat across the Black Sea from Bulgaria to Georgia. It was a very special experience! We set off in Varna and spent two nights on the boat, only surrounded by water.

Since our time on this bike trip is limited, we chose this way instead of riding through Turkey.

The ship was loaded with tons of trucks and freight trains, but besides us there were only 3 truck drivers and the crew on the ship.
Food was made three times a day, we spent lots of time reading, exploring the ship and looking out the window!

  1. Hi Finn and Henrik, my partner and I also took a cargo ferry but from opposite way (from Batumi to Burgas) on early March this year. I also made informative videos on that particular ferry from our experience. When was it that you took this ferry? It seems the freight ferry you took is different company from the one we took. And we met a German bike traveler on that cargo ferry, ha! I checked your other video the one you went to Tbilisi as well. It's quite nice to see other traveler took a similar path in minor method. We have been in living in Tbilisi for almost a year and at the moment stuck in Bulgaria. By the way Your camera work is quite impressive showing nice scenery and views of environment.

  2. Great. I'm considering taking the boat from Odessa to Poti (whenever we are able to do such again).
Your Instagram link doesn't work, you are missing the 'there'.
    Regards.
