Having taken delivery of my new Endurace CF SLX Di2 a few days ago, today’s job is converting the wheels to tubeless. DT Swiss did a really nice job on the rim bed. I wiped the rim clean, wiped the 32mm Conti GP5000 bead clean, installed a Muc-Off valve without its core, popped the tyre on, and inflated it to 5bar (the tyre’s max pressure rating), to seat the beads. The DT Swiss Tire Pressure chart indicates that the rims are rated to 6.8bar.

I heard air escaping and found that it was coming out of the join in the rim. It keeps escaping until the tyre pressure drops to 2.4bar and abruptly stops. Is this a defective rim? Assuming that when I add sealant and it’s going to seal, will it be safe to ride?
