Epic list but 1 name missing Rachel Atherton for her season winning every downhill race. Unprecedented in any sport.
Cycling's greatest achievement is the pure unadulterated joy it liberally spreads to all who ride.

#askgcn Do CX racers use Flat pedals? It would seem getting on and off the bike in deep mud would be easier.
I forgot to unclip in front of 2000+ people. Doing an MS ride. First time riding with clipless pedals. It was embarrassing and painful especially when it was the beginning meaning I had 150 miles to go.

Greatest cycling achievement: Goran Kropp, 1996, rides his bike from Stockholm, Sweden to Mt. Everest, unsupported, summits Mt. Everest with no bottled oxygen, aided in the 1996 Everest disaster, then descends to his bike and rides back to Sweden. True story. Google it. Badass.

Winning the Tour de France 7 times in row fair and square, they were all on a level playing field. Lance. best. Ever.
Dan, they say that we all have one good book in us and I’m waiting for yours. You constantly surprise us with ‘throwaway’ anecdotes which are tremendous. You have one advance order, so get on with it!
Greatest ever achievement? Lance winning 7 tours back to back. He was doping, but so was everyone else so who cares.

It's weird how we gas up all these cyclists who were 100% not natural (like Mark Beaumont and Eddie), then dismiss Lance because he got caught and didn't rat on anyone else. Lance is my #1 and always will be, shortly followed by Amanda Coker.
Bit late here, but my greatest achievement so far was falling over my chainset while trying to "look cool", casually sitting on the top tupe. Floor was wet, cleats slipped, bike slipped… Here I was, 6am, in front of 60 odd people, right before my first ever group ride (during the briefing, to be precise), sitting over my chainset.
