Looking to get my first real road bike. I’ve tested a few and have narrowed down to the Domane Al 5 and Giant Defy Advanced 3.

The Giant is marked down quite a bit so although normally more expensive, it will be a few hundred $ cheaper than the Domane. The Domane has 105 groupset on aluminum frame, while the Giant has a carbon frame and Tiagra groupset.

Both bikes seemed quite comfortable.

I think I noticed some rubbing noise from the Giant drivetrain in certain gears (I think the chain rubbing in the front derailleur), is that expected or something that can be adjusted away?

Is this carbon frame more desirable than aluminum, and is durability a consideration? It is not particularly hilly where I live, so weight may not be the biggest factor for me.

Thanks in advance!
