The blue trail hiding a whopping feature (why it was put on the blue trail and not a red I do not know). In this video we revisit the Perry’s trail after three years of it being open and see how it rides and what has changed.

  1. I ride at Cannock quite a lot and the blue when riding with my son is great as you can ride along with him and still do the red bits to keep it interesting, and most bar the first you can still see the blue when doing the red bits, it’s also great at progressing kids onto full red routes, though I find it weird at Cannock that the red sections on the blue are harder than most of follow the dog red trail.

  2. We usually do this Blue as a warm up and then ride FtD & the Monkey trails.

It's the perfect trail for young kids learning to ride. My son first rode it in Oct 2021 when he was 10 and loved it.

  3. Another good video Olly. I’ve rode this blue trail many times. It’s a great blue one ideal for children to start on. The Bambi’s Drop was moved from the bottom of the hill where the red section goes up the him through the rock garden. It was built for the commonwealth games. That’s also where the name comes from. Perry was the name of the mascot. Perry the bull. A bull being used as the games were based in Birmingham. Home of the Bullring Centre.

  4. I usually do 3 laps of Perry's Trail. I then cross Perry's Trail and do the rest of the FtD. I generally do the second rock feature. I haven't done Bambi's Drop. Yet.

  5. I was riding Perry's yesterday with a couple of newbie riders, one of which was a complete first timer. I thought he was actually going to be sick half way around, which show's either how unfit my friend is, but also how under rated Perry's trail is. It's an awesome intro loop, with enough feature's to keep experienced riders entertained while showing newbies around. It took me a few visit's to go over Bambi's leap, but once you have done it, it's far less scary than it looks!
We went on to ride Follow the Dog after, minus the newbie, again showing Perry's is a great warm up to get bike fit before going on to the Dog and/or Monkey trails. There were some awesome "unofficial" features scattered around Perry's but i was a bit sad to see they have been fenced off after a rider collided with a pedestrian on a fire road, while descending one of the unofficial features. Shame as they made it even more fun. But i'm please to see one of the off pistes is getting some attention after it was used in the Commonwealth games, and add's a bit of variety to Perry's, if you don't mind an extra climb!

  6. Brilliant video on this nice little trail, thank you. We normally knock a right at the end of the section after stegosaurus, then cut in to Perry's trail, do the rollers, and carry on until cardiac hill, where we re-join the dog. Far better than that nasty root-y section, especially in the wet.
