My mom, wife, son, and I set off from Copenhagen towards Italy on our bikes. This first episode covers Denmark and Germany as we get adjusted to being back on the bikes. We started with some nasty headwind and some rain in the first 4 days but the weather improved later on. We also battled a skin infection passed on from Natalia’s fall just before the trip, and a random sick day from my son. We met many pharmacists and a couple doctors on our way south : )
A couple highlights were the expensive Danish food, swimming at all the campgrounds in Germany, donuts in Berlin, and finally reaching the Elbe in Dresden. I thought the Eurovelo 7 would be easier to follow like the last route from Amsterdam to Barcelona, but it was quite meandering and often gravel so I spent most of the days plotting my own route using Google Maps, Bikemap and Komoot.
They’re a bit long so I split them in episodes. Episode 2 shows the nice route to Prague (my mom’s finish line), then pushing our own route to Austria back to EV7, and finishing with some fun in the mountains!
