I have a Marin San Quentin 2 2021 (27.5) L and am quite happy with the geometry and fit over the last 3 years. I'll be upgrading to a full suspension, looking at the Polygon Siksiu T9 (29). Polygon's sizing suggests I'm firmly in L, however comparing the geo against the SQ2, the M is a very close match.
I've never ridden a FS, so I'm not sure if I've missed something critical when comparing geo to help pick size.
Has anyone got any suggestions on sizing?
Any comments on XR or T8?
I can get the T9 for AUD $3200, and love the green.
- Marin rift zone XR is $3400, though 1kg lighter.
- The T8 is 2500 (500g lighter, but rythm fork, don't know how the DPS shock compares) all other components are absolutely fine, TBH I'm happy with deore+
- Not really considering the T7 as it's 2200 with fork, shock and brakes leaving a bit to be desired. Fork and shock upgrade would be ~1700, brakes I can put bigger rotors for cheap improvement.
Thanks for reading!
ETA:
Budget up to AUD $3500
I like to ride a mix of trails around south coast NSW, Australia and occasional trip to Stromlo ACT, Australia.
I definitely prefer facing down slope (up just kills me, I need to get better there). I love tech and flow equally. I haven't really had a problem with the hardtail over chunk, but going faster over chunk is wearing on me.
I'm firmly amateur, but have been focusing on progression and have had some great improvement over the last 6 months. Hitting trails about 30-40% faster than previously.
