  1. Really enjoyed this episode. I ride an older Colnago carbon, and kudos to them for building this bike. I don’t know why there are haters saying ‘how dare they’. This is Colnago of old pushing the envelope. Although it’s not for everyone, there is still the C68 for the traditionalist, the do it all V4RS and then the Y1RS If you think you are fast enough. Good luck for the 100k

  2. In Germany already but got back from a 1.5h SIT session outdoors earlier (2 deg C, clear and dry, no snow just yet!). I usually listen to you guys when prepping family breakfast on Thursday mornings.

  3. The rear end of the Colnago has no aero impact at all with a rider on it. Maybe it's more comfortable though. The front wheel looks like you're going to overlap your shoe in a crit. The 20 watts over the V4 just means Tadej is going to kill everyone in the classics next year. My guess is that the "closest competitor" is the SL8 since that's the fastest bike with a rider on it. Canyon puts the DI2 batter in the same place. It's freakin annoying. Overall it's an impressive bike, but I'm not going to sell my SL8 Sworks or Aeroad to get one.

  4. Questioning whether or not Pogi will ride this bike is silly. He might use the V4rs for some climbing stage, but otherwise this will be his main bike. It will suit his style of absurd solo breakaways from a million miles out, and the rest of the peloton will be terrified! As an owner of seven Colnago road bikes, Colnago did everything right with this one!

  5. It’s 4:45am here in sweaty Qld. Pre ride “nuptials” being done whilst excitedly checking in with The Nero Boys. This week’s content looks awesome and will be sitting down to it after a cold shower and an Oat Latte in hand post Thursday morning session.

  6. I'd say top riders don't have to use all their sponsors' products. Huffy was not actual frames, just stickers and cool, a discount bike brand in top races. And I enjoyed your admitting being jealous of David Arthur and his big Walter Mitty moment with the new Colnago. And it could be a fun feature, something about being green with envy over the lucky ducks with invites to special presentations and promotions and snacks in the buffet tent. 😀

  7. If tadej wins San Remo with this bike, the aero hype will go crazy.
Imagine an attack at the cipressa and a solo win. This is probably the only way he will have to win San Remo.

Cervélo increases the fork legs of the S5 and probably recovers to non significant differences

  8. I'm sure Colnago will offer many different seat mast sizes to ease bike fit. I like the design – yay for difference and innovation – looks frikkin awesome! As for the 'when we, rim brake' types – LOOOOOOOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. @Chris Miller the No.6 wheels could also not be balanced. With the valve making the wheel unbalanced. Similar to a wheel on a car you would need to balance it by sticking some led in the rim on the opposite of the valve. With wheel going sub 1300g this is apparently a thing to consider.

  10. Request – perhaps a discussion about whether the UCI needs to review the minimum bike weight rule. These days it easy to build a sub 6.5kg set-up without even having to go with top end components or titanium this and that.

  11. Can someone share sources for Pogacar V4RS bike being 6.8kg. I really don’t think it is possible to get the bike to that weight. The V4RS frame is relatively heavy for a non-aero bike. The carbon Ti trickery doesn’t save that much weight. In all reviews of Pogacar bike available online that I seen there is no weight info because the team did not let the reporters weigh the bike. In my estimates Pogacar tour bike weighs approximately 7.1-7.2kg. But I keep hearing it weighs 6.8.Has anyone verified this info?

  12. 23:06 Chris might want to check where the battery location is in his S5 when using Shimano😉. This is absolutely the norm for anything with a cutaway in the seat tube. It’s not influencing Shimano vs SRAM use.

  13. The enve 4.5 have a 25mm internal width. With the new standards you cannot use 28s on a 25. You need at least 29. That said the aero 111 comes in 29 likely for this reason so a test with 28s would kind of be a bad comparison.

  14. The drilling on the tubes for pressure sensors is common in motorsports. F1 cars run aero rakes around their cars in practice sessions all the time. CFD works, this method helps to validate it.

  15. I fucking LOVE Van Rysel stuff. Got a bunch of their clothes and gear and everything is super high quality. Same performance as Sworks, but third of the price? I'm all in! Last purchase was the aero helmet for 99€! Same performance as evade 3 which is 300€!

  16. I am actually still sitting on my Bianchi oltre xr4 and the newer bikes did not really convince me (mostly optical and weight wise, i knew they are better 😅)
The new colnago though… Damn this is something really fresh. This looks really new, the front looks cool and performance wise i would make an actual jump.
Guess i will finally go to disc bikes 😂

    Rip my wallet

  17. In the no. 6 wheels, I wonder if the problem is that the wheels weight is not even around the rim. Like with a car, the balance can get thrown out because the weight is not even around the rim?

  18. So my bianchi rc. Everyone trashed it. Without even seeing it hands on.
Best frame i have been on. Funny when colnago does areo it's a good thing. When bianchi did it. Nothing but hate.
And my bars are basically the same as S5 and this colnago but better ergo comfort.

  19. In the early 2000s there was a whole bunch of study into speed wobbles. The conclusion seemed to be that it’s a combination of frame, wheel and rider weight and position. And good luck

  20. Nah, it has to be ERG mode on Zwift when doing Zone 2 and watching this show. How are you supposed to stay with a pacer bot group and watch the show at the same time, when only one window can realistically be made big enough to see from the trainer?

  21. I don’t get the comparison of Chapter 2 to Chinese brands. Chapter 2 has a local presence in Australia, local support, local warranty. It operates like Western brands but is cheaper. Disparaging it because it’s more expensive than a Winspace or Tavelo makes no sense.

As you acknowledged, their previous models have been very good and high quality. So maybe wait til you ride one before the criticisms fly.

To me it seems like a bike for someone who just wants one bike and isn’t particularly worried about aero.

It’s like an amalgamation of the Huru, Toa and Koko.

  22. Not sure implying Pog is resistant to change stands up to scrutiny considering he's on narrow AF bars, short cranks, wide tyres and he wasn't exactly "late" to adopt any of them?
I think it's more accurate to say that there has to be a clear performance advantage in total, as a complete system, for him to adopt a specific technology.
And there's much more to performance than the reductionist approach that conflates measured arbitrary metrics for real world efficiency and speed.

PS Maybe he stuck with rim brakes for that very reason. Because the rim brake bike of the time offered a better, more synergistic package than the heavy, stiff, incompliant disk bikes of the time.
Personally, I still think disks require too many compromises to justify any narrow performance window of advantage they may offer.
