I purchased the Canyon Spectral 125 (CF8 build) earlier this fall. I am used to running Code R's and metallic pads on my enduro bike, so I knew switching over to Shimano XT brakes would take an adjustment. When I was riding this fall, I noticed some brake fade pretty early in my descents. I found out my bike was equipped with resin pads. With the brake fade, I was pretty set on changing to metallic pads ASAP. I kept on riding though and seem to notice it less, to the point of me not noticing it all. This sounds silly but I am wondering if transporting and riding my bike in the cold gives the resin pads a chance to not heat up some, or I have simply adjusted to these new pads. I read online that resin pads gives the rider some modulation, so I was wondering if I should keep running resin pads as Shimano brakes have that on/off braking effect. I heard though from a fellow tech-nerd rider that Shimano brakes are now coming with more modulation. What are your thoughts?
