Keep going. Youβre on a good path!
Trail jogging, gravel π² and mountain π² riding is awesome!
It sounds odd but add a plank for the length of one GCN short YouTube video (30 to 60 seconds) works great! It's easy to do anywhere anytime.
Good on you Dan > Keep doing IT !!
turn-arounds are proof-of-life
I'm 100% doing that right now. I'm a former personal trainer to let it all go. Once I found cycling this past year though, I've been signing up for a lot of races which is giving me reason to weight train again to drop weight so I'm more aero. It's made me move a lot more, and while I still need to get my nutrition dialed in again, the moving has been a lot better. I'm right there with ya but π
So much respect for this! β€
It's almost impressive to me how you (Dan) rebelled against your tour pro status so much after retirement. The burnout had to be unbelievable for you to get to that point.
Your journey back is fascinating and I appreciate how realistic you're being about it.
Best wishes from the States.
I started just before Dan at the end of January. Stopped drinking, junk food etc and increased my cycling. So far, over a stone lost already, and my power numbers have vastly improved! Good luck on your journey Dan. π
Letβs go Dan! Following along and cheering for you from NJ USA.
I gravel ride but mostly an Ultra Trail Runner doing a few 50k year.
Come to the USA for a gravel ride!
Following this very closely while I continue to come back from open heart surgery 15 months ago. I am now back up to 42 VO2 max, and kind of curious to see if I can make 50 on that front.
Boozing, laziness and junk food come hand in hand. The triangle of disaster. Break that cycle and cycle.
Basically been working on getting fitter for 12 years now, unfortunately when your health is significantly damaged it ain't as easy and several bumbs and setbacks need to be navigated. I ain't giving up though!
Great effort, Dan.
Amazing how your hair is so dark on Eurosport nowadays – is this a benefit of your new regime or excessive use of Grecian 2000?
I think we should be told
Well done Dan. Itβs so easy to slip into poor habits. Good on you for addressing it and doing something about it.
He is so right…love it. Go out and do something . Maybe sit at the camp fireπ€π€£
Problem these days is our lifestyles (particularly working for most people) are sedentary and we sit on our arses all day. Quick way to an early death. I am in the same position. Need to do more get out at lunch for a walk without fail.
For fun & health
