Whilst visiting Geneva, Switzerland I crossed the border into France to climb Mt. Salève. The cable car gives great views of Geneva, the lake and the Jet d’ eau.
Geneva’s home mountain lies around 900 meters above the Jet d’Eau, on French terrain, yet at the heart of Geneva. And the mountain has been connected to mountain rail since over 120 years. Impressive views over the canton of Geneva as far as the Jura – and Mont Blanc on a clear day.
The cable car of Mont Salève carries you to an altitude of 1,100 metres in less than five minutes. Mont Salève is an immense playground for sports lovers. You can go paragliding, climbing, mountain biking, trekking… or cross-country skiing in winter. Nature lovers will enjoy the fresh air, the fauna and flora and the stunning vista of Geneva. On the south-east side, you can enjoy a view of the Alps with the Mont-Blanc massif.
