I truly now get the hype for living in a bike friendly society – it’s AMAZING!
If you’re new here, I’m Kelsey, an American living in the Netherlands. Every week, I’m finding something new to make the Netherlands feel like home as moving can be challenging.
I grew up in Ohio where we had a few bike paths for recreational biking, but I never felt safe to bike on the road to things like the store or into town. People will either ride on the sidewalks (not ideal) or on the road which, again, not my cup of tea with how poorly American drivers pay attention.
Now being in the Netherlands, I wanted to understand how it worked and be a part of it. Rather than getting into my car, I want to be able to bike to the store or my workout class or even just enjoy the hundreds of miles of paths!
It can be a bit intimidating at first, but with some practice and vigilance, I am slowly feeling more comfortable biking around town.
