🚴♂️ National Cycle Network Route 2 🚴♂️
Garry’s cycling part of route 2 of the national cycle network. From the B3351, Corfe Castle to Ferry Road Studland. Although he’s not impressed with the state of the route, he still enjoys his ride.
Bear in mind when watching. The video 📹 is unscripted and recorded as Garry cycles along on his trusty bike, 🚲 Passepartout and might not be of the highest quality. The footage was then cobbled together when Garry got home. It’s certainly no Hollywood 🎬 production. But it might just make you smile and inspire you to get on your bike and head off bicycle touring.

You're indomitable. Nice bit of rough stuff.
Our 'National' Cycle routes are rather shameful. I cycle tour on a Brompton and I'm disabled. Meeting paths that are mud or loose gravel is ridiculous on a so called national route.
I read not long ago there is some kind of disagreement between the people in charge of Sustrans, that traced the signposted National Cycle Network you've been following, and Cycling UK, which is a different group with a very different view of how the network should be traced, and who have a separate route database in their website.
This weird combination of main roads and long off-road stretches is part and parcel of the NCN. I've taken to using either routes shared by other cyclists or planning my own in Komoot, which I think does a much better job of considering what kind of ride you're aiming for: touring, gravel, road etc.
The NCN as it is is, I think, largely useless for long-distance on-road touring, but also for family-friendly cycling: too meandering for getting from A to B, too much in traffic for children. I don't know why they designed it like this, but pretty much any trip you plan based on it will be disappointing, no matter what kind of bike and no matter what kind of company you ride with.
