Unlocking the Beauty: Exploring Fontainebleau Forest’s Rocky Wonders

This is the 5th part of the Fontainebleau Forest Series.
It is the last episode presenting autumn hikes and strolls in this beautiful rocky forest. During the next spring and summer, I will continue this series, presenting more hiking trails, specific rocks, and a few important villages surrounding this forest.

Surrounding this famous stone, there is a rich bouldering area with many specific rocks. We will walk among these rocks, observing people engaged in bouldering and enjoying the beautiful day and nature of this place.
After that, we once again stroll through the beautiful autumn colors of the forest, occasionally discovering new interesting stones.

Located around 30 kilometers southeast of Paris, the Forest is situated in close proximity to the renowned town of Fontainebleau, famed for its historic Fontainebleau Castle. Bordering the forest is the charming village of Barbizon, which, during the mid-19th century, played a central role in the famous ‘Barbizon School of Painters.’ Visionaries such as Corot, Rousseau, Millet, and Grigorescu found inspiration in the forest’s natural beauty, giving birth to a significant artistic movement—realism in painting nature.

What distinguishes this forest is the enchanting interplay among rocks, trees, and plants, resulting in a truly distinctive landscape. Acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost bouldering destinations, it holds a unique allure.
