Welcome to day three of my Coast-to-Coast Devon bike ride.
Today’s journey took me from Lidford to Plymouth. The route was inspiring, mainly passing through the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, which offered breathtaking scenery. Compared to the previous days, today felt a bit different. I hoped it wouldn’t be as challenging as the six climbs from the day before! Fortunately, only one steep climb lay ahead, which was a relief. Or was there!
The weather wasn’t ideal; it remained overcast, there was no rain forecast, and there was very little wind, which made things much more bearable. Despite the clouds, I was looking forward to the day ahead.
As I pedalled through Dartmoor, the views were incredible. The landscape felt fresh and diverse, constantly changing and keeping me captivated. The ride perfectly blended quiet country roads and winding trails through the countryside. I enjoyed the peacefulness of being surrounded by nature, bike, the road, and the ever-changing scenery.
Riding through such an iconic and historic part of England was an experience like no other. With its wild beauty and serene atmosphere, Dartmoor reminded me exactly why I love long bike rides. Every pedal stroke was an adventure.
As I neared the end of the ride, there was a bittersweet feeling, knowing that the ride was ending. This had been one of the best rides I’d ever done. Much of the journey had been off the beaten path, winding through trails. I was already thinking about returning to experience it again. But it was time to finish the ride and head toward Plymouth.
