I am excited to kick off a new series dedicated to the enchanting Fontainebleau Forest, a place where I have hiked extensively in every season. This forest serves as a profound source of inspiration for me.

Located about 30 kilometers southeast of Paris, it is situated near the town of Fontainebleau, renowned for its historic Fontainebleau Castle. Additionally, neighboring the forest is the picturesque village of Barbizon, which, in the mid-19th century, played host to the famous ‘Barbizon School of Painters.’ Painters such as Corot, Rousseau, Millet, or Grigorescu found themselves captivated by the forest’s natural beauty, shaping a significant artistic movement of their time—realism in painting nature.

What makes this forest truly unique is the captivating interplay between rocks, trees, and plants. It’s one of the most famous bouldering destinations in the world.
